New work by Chris Carter now available in the gallery.

Chris has been a potter for over 45 years. His sculptural forms are typically decorated with matt textured glazes.

The work often fired multiple times has a quiet strength. Strong forms which show technical proficiency, influenced by the farming landscape around Chris, as well as that of those that worked the land in ancient times - tools and pots from neolithic times to the ancient Britains. Both Lucie Rie (who Chris knew well) and Hans Coper have had an impact on his work.

Chris has also provided a more recent range of work - bowls and jars with carved decoration again influenced by ancient British pottery.
